Hide Files and Folders on Windows 11
Privacy is the most secret matter to everyone.
One PC/Laptop may be used by many people, you want to keep certain files and
folders private/invisible and away from other one eyes. There is no matter the
type of data on your PC that may be sensitive documents, photos, or videos
that you want to keep private and prevent others from viewing when they’re near
your computer. There might be other reasons why you want to hide them from
view, such as to avoid accidental deletion.
Hide Files and Folders via File Explorer:
Windows 11 have different procedure to hide files and folders; you can hide files and folders from Windows Search. That prevents unwanted items from showing up in local search results. It’s actually quite simple with the help of the built-in File Explorer settings.
To Hide Files and Folders on Windows 11:
1. Launch/open File Explorer from the taskbar icon.2. Navigate to the file or
folder which you want to hide, then right-click on it, and choose the
Properties option from the menu.
3. The folder properties will show, under the General tab, check the Hidden box and click OK
4. One confirmation message window will appears, select the Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files option to hide the folder and its content.
5. Click OK to confirm it.
7. If you have the show hidden
files option enabled, the file or folder you selected will be grayed out, but
it’ll remain visible.
8. You can manage the hidden
item’s view on or off.
9. For this, click the View button from the File Explorer toolbar and select Show > Hidden items to make it visible or not.
