Why is Biometric data important?

Now Biometric data is being used for Aadhaar verification. For example, if you need a new mobile connection and require a SIM card, you have to submit your Aadhaar card as identification proof and it is required to get the Biometric identity information. This Biometric data is unique to you and it can be misuse in the wrong hands. For this reason, it is important that you keep it safe, to prevent any misuse.

How to Lock Aadhar Card Biometrics

• Go to UIDAI home page à Lock/Unlock  Biometric or click  https://resident.uidai.gov.in/biometric-lock

•  Tick on Check Box ""I Understand that after biometric lock enable, I will not perform biometric authentication until I unlock Biometrics.""

• Under ‘Aadhar Card Services’ click on the Lock/Unlock Biometrics’ option.

• Enter your 12 digit UID or  16-digit VID number.

• Enter the security code or captcha displayed on your screen.

Here Aadhaar Number not showing, it is  blur for security purpose.

• You will then receive an OTP (One Time Password) on your registered mobile phone via SMS

• Enter the OTP and a security key or password of your choice and click on Submit

• Now click on Enable Locking Feature.

• Your Aadhar Card Biometric will then be locked.
