Names of various cyclones since 2004


Cyclones have been named since 2004. Cyclones have formed over the Bay of Bengal at various times. Here are the names of the cyclones formed over the Bay of Bengal since 2004:- 

1. Cyclone Anil and Agni :-   Anil formed on 1st  October 2004. Agni formed on 28th November 2004.


2. Cyclone Baz :- Baz formed on 28th November 2005.


3. Cyclone Mala :- The Mala was formed from 24th April to 30th  April  2006.


4. Cyclone Sidr : Sidar formed on November 11, 2007. It caused severe damage in Bangladesh and India.


5. Cyclone Nargis : Nargis formed on April 26, 2008.


6. Cyclone Aila : Cyclone Aila formed on 22nd  May 2009, had a wind speed of 120kmph. This cyclone had a major impact on Bangladesh Sandeshkhali , Gosba and Kolkata.


7. Cyclone Laila :   The cyclone formed  on May 17, 2010.  This cyclone caused a lot of damage in Chennai.


8. Cyclone Thane : This cyclone formed on 25th December 2011. This storm caused damage in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.  


9. Cyclone Nilam: This storm formed on 28th December  2012,  the affected country was Sri Lanka.


10. Cyclone Phailin Helen and Lehar : Cyclone Phailin formed on 6th  October 2013 Cyclone Helen formed on 19th  November 2013 and Cyclone Lehar formed on 23rd  November. 


11. Cyclones Hudhud and Nanak :  Cyclone Hudhud formed on 7th  October 2014. The speed of this storm was 185 kilometers per hour. Cyclone Nanak formed on 10th June 2014the speed was 85 kilometers per hour.


12. Cyclone Komen : Cyclone Komen formed on July 29, 2015, with  a speed of 75 kilometers per hour.


13. Cyclones Rojanu Bhardaha and Nada : Cyclone Rojanu formed on 19th  May 2016 with a maximum sustained wind speed of 85 km/h. Cyclone  Bhardaha formed on 7th  December 2016, with a maximum sustained wind speed of 130 km/h. Cyclone Nada formed on 29th  November 2016 with a maximum sustained wind speed of 75 km/h.


14. Cyclones Marutha Mora and Ockhi: Cyclone Marutha formed on 15 April 2017 and had a wind speed of 75 kmph. Cyclone Mora formed on 28th May 2017 and had a wind speed of 110 kmph  . Cyclone Ockhi formed on 29th  November 2017 and  had a wind speed of 155 kmph.


15. Cyclone Titli Fethai and Gaja : Cyclone Titli  formed on 8th  October 2018  and had a wind speed of 150 km/h. Cyclone Gaja  formed on 10th  November 2018  and had a wind speed of 130  km/h. Storm Fethai formed on 13th  December 2018 and had a wind speed of 100 km/h.   


16. Cyclones Bulbul Fani Maha and Hika : Cyclone Bulbul formed on 5th  November 2019 and its speed was 140 km/h. Cyclone Fani formed on 26th  April 2019 and its speed was 215 km/h. Cyclone Maha  formed on 30th  October 2019 and its speed was 175 km/h. Cyclone Hika formed on 22nd  September  2019 and its speed was 140 km/h.


17. Cyclone Amphan : Cyclone Amphan formed on May 18, 2020. The speed of this storm was 240 kilometers per hour and its impact was the most damaging in Kolkata South 24 Parganas North 24 Parganas Digha , and Medinipur.


18. Cyclones Yas and  Jawad: Cyclone Yas  formed on 23rd  May 2021 and had a speed of 140 km/h.   Cyclone Jawad formed on 2nd  December 2012 and had a speed of 75 km/h. 


19. Cyclone Ashni : Cyclone Ashni   formed on May 7, 2022 and had a speed of 100 kilometers per hour.    


20. Cyclone Mocha and  Katara: Cyclone Mocha  occurred on 7th  May 2023  and had a speed of 215  kilometers per hour.  Cyclone Katara  occurred on 6th  June 2023  and had a speed of 165  kilometers per hour.   


21. Cyclone Dana : Cyclone Dana   formed on 22nd  October 2024 with a speed of 110 kmph. This storm made landfall in Odisha. The landfall of Cyclone Dana began on the Odisha coast area on Thursday  night 24th October 2024 to Dhamra port, leading to heavy rain and strong winds of 110 kmph.
